One thing I noticed when I see some of my patients across the board is that a lot are completely forgetting good footwear and good support in the house. We all got our great shoes for work, great orthotics to correct our feet but we are getting forgetful and wearing flip flops, bare feet and sock feet in our homes. We have hard wood floors, tile, granite, laminate or other hard surfaces. We must not forget Sir Isaac Newton’s third law of physics. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. If you have 100+ pounds of body weight going into the ground, you will have it reflect back up into your body. This will, in turn affect your joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. All the pain that we have been trying to alleviate will possibly come back.
So those who are at home more than before, please continue to wear the best you can on your feet. If you need your orthotics to work, chances are you need them to walk around and do work in your homes too.
